Some time ago, in a conversation with a croatian friend, came up that the word "nada" has two opposite meanings in both languages. While for us-spanish speakers- means, according to the Real Academia Española, "not being or absoulute lack of all being", in croatian means "hope".
Hope is something ethereal that comes and goes. When there is no hope there is emptiness, nada (nothing).
And it depends on us to recognize in the same word one thing or the other, when the turbulence soothes down and we can, finally, see clearly.
